Black Mountain of Maine's 17 kilometers of nordic trails, with snowmaking on 4 kilometers, have something to offer for all ages and abilities. These trails are also open to snowshoeing. Home to the Chisholm Ski Club, Black Mountain has been acknowledged as one of the finest Nordic Skiing facilities for recreation and competition in North America. Black Mountain's trails were developed by Rumford's Wendall "Chummy" Broomhall, a two-time Olympian, desinger of the Lake Placid and Squaw Valley Olympic cross-country trails and Nordic snow groomer pioneer. Black Mountain and the Chisholm Ski Club have co-hosted many of today's US Olympic Team skiers as the site of the 2003 and 2004 Chevrolet US Cross Country Championships, as well as the US Cross Country Championships in 2011. Trails are groomed, whenever possible, for both skating and classic techniques.

For those who don't ski or snowboard, The Edge Tubing Park provides a great way to experience the thrill of speed on the snow and is a hot spot for outdoor winter fun. A 300-foot handle tow transports you and your tube (provided) up the hill to your choice of chutes. When you visit The Edge Tubing Park there is no need for special equipment, just warm clothes and a little courage. Please note that all tubers must be able to clear the end of the chute, unassisted, after a ride. Save yourself some time at the Mountain by simply downloading this liability form and filling it out before coming to the mountain.
