NCAA® Skiing Championships a Success at Black Mountain

Chisholm Ski Club, Bates College, and Black Mountain of Maine hosted the 2009 NCAA® Nordic Skiing Championships on March 12 and 14th. Fire on the Mountain

Due to the unique characteristics of the Black Mountain basin, the fireplace in the Last Run Lounge at Black Mountain needs to be embellished in order to be utilized properly.
Friends of the mountain have started a fundraising drive to help defer the cost of extending the current height of the chimney by four feet. Dr. Peter Everett has placed a donation container inside the fireplace at Black Mountain’s Base Lodge.
The container, complete with red flashing lights, will serve as a substitute for a real fire until the goal is reached. Any donation would be greatly appreciated so that the labor can be done over the summer and the warm fire will be ready for all to enjoy by next winter.
